06.03.2015 CISRS News Update
CISRS has been informed that ASTRA Access Safety Training Ltd in Darton, South Yorkshire went into administration on Friday 27th February 2015. At the present time we do not have any information as to the circumstances, but calls to their office number are now being diverted to UTN in Wakefield who may be able to offer some advice.
CISRS will accept certificates of training for CISRS courses undertaken with ASTRA prior to the above date. If you have completed Training with ASTRA recently and have not received a CISRS certificate we may be able to find proof of your attendance via course notifications. You would need to supply your name, date of birth, NI number, courses dates etc.
Unfortunately we have not been informed as to what action will be taken for those people who have submitted portfolios to ASTRA for assessment, we could only suggest at this stage that it may useful to contact another CISRS approved provider and re-eegister for VQ and subsequent Skills test with them. A list of providers is available on the CISRS website
Following the recent news that there are now more than 50,000 CISRS card holders in the UK, the CISRS Overseas Scaffolder Training Scheme (OSTS) has reached another milestone for the organisation – with 2,500 operatives having completed training and holding CISRS OSTS cards.

CISRS has added another training centre to its Overseas Scaffolder Training Scheme (OSTS) – as the all-new UG Safety & Access UK (PVT) Ltd Chennai training centre gained accreditation this week.

Following the recent news that the CISRS scheme has breached the 50,000 cardholders mark, the first scaffolder to be issued with a CISRS card back in 1979 has been in touch – Allan Craigen, Director of NASC member company Heywood Scaffolding Services in Lancashire.

The New Year has brought with it an improved, fully revised and standardised CISRS Part 1 training package – which has recently been issued to all CISRS approved training providers.
13.01.2015 Apprentice of the Year Award 2014 Presented
The inaugural NASC Apprentice of the Year Award winner – Josh Kerwin of Kaefer C&D Ltd – was presented with his trophy, certificate and £500 cash prize this week by NASC Training Director, Dave Mosley and Diane Wood, award scheme judge and Specialist Account Co-ordinator for CITB (Construction Industry Training Board).
17.12.2014 50000 CISRS CARDS
Latest figures taken from the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) database show that the 50,000 mark for CISRS card holders has been breached. This is a significant achievement and is by far the highest number of current valid cards the scheme has ever held since its inception in the late 1960’s.

NASC were in Westminster earlier this month, with members Chris Sedgeman and Lynn Way of Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Ltd, to meet with Nick Boles, Minister of State for Skills and Equalities – discussing the availability of training in the South West and proposals for the future of apprenticeships in the UK.
28.10.2014 Qualifying The Workforce Training Funding 2015
The NASC has received confirmation that funding has been secured from Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) which will enable them to run their 4th Qualifying The Workforce (QTW) programme, starting in January 2015.
15.10.2014 NASC & CISRS Exhibition Success at Health & Safety North Event
The NASC and CISRS had a successful exhibition at the Health & Safety North event held at Bolton Arena last week (October 8-9th 2014) attracting over 130 serious enquiries on scaffolding safety, standards and training to its 16m trade stand (B16), which featured a free-standing five metre tower, built by NASC members 3D Scaffolding of Manchester.
14.10.2014 Apprentice of the Year Award 2014
NASC are proud to announce the launch of the NASC Apprentice of the Year Award, which is to be sponsored by both CITB and CISRS. The award is aimed at individuals who are currently directly employed with an NASC Member company and are either part way through a formal scaffolding apprenticeship with an approved CISRS provider or alternatively have successfully completed the apprenticeship programme in 2014.
22.09.2014 NASC Launches TG20:13 Supplement 1 and eGuide Software Update
The NASC has updated its TG20:13 good practice guidance for tube and fitting scaffolding with a new document entitled Supplement 1. This document is available now for download from the NASC website as a PDF and is accompanied by an eGuide software update entitled Version 1.1.
16.09.2014 NASC Welcomes Publication of Revised HSE Scaffold Checklist
The NASC has welcomed the publication of the recently amended ‘. The document is intended to clarify when scaffold design is required, and the level of training and competence which those erecting, inspecting and supervising the erection, alteration and dismantling of scaffolding are expected to have.

31.07.2014 NASC & CISRS Re-develop CITB Level Two Scaffolding Diploma
The National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) and Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) have recently been assisting the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) with a radical re-development of its Level Two Diploma for scaffolding apprentices (No. 601/3726/5). The new Diploma in Scaffolding will be available for registration from September 1st 2014.

West Anglia Training Association (WATA) of Huntingdon, Cambridge has become the latest training provider to gain Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) accreditation.
01.07.2014 NASC Withdraw TG2008
Further to publication of TG20:13 in February the NASC has formally withdrawn TG20:08. From 1 July 2014, the NASC recommends that all tube and fitting scaffold structures should be supported by TG20:13, using TG20:13 eGuide generated compliance sheets, or should be supported by a bespoke scaffold design.
